Anker USB-C Data Hub (8-in-1, 5Gbps) new cheaper accessory arrives
Anker has launched the USB-C Data Hub (8-in-1, 5Gbps) at Amazon in the US. The accessory works with laptops, phones, tablets and PCs, connecting to devices like a camera, keyboard, printer or SSD. Plus, the gadget is a cheaper, less powerful version of the recently released USB-C Data Hub (11-in-1, 10Gbps).
The host device can be connected to the USB-C Data Hub via USB-A or USB-C, thanks to a 2-in-1 connector. Like the 11-port hub, the 8-in-1 version has a 100W USB-C PD-IN port for pass-through charging of the connected laptop. It is worth noting that the charger and cable for laptop charging are not provided with the product. You can charge gadgets like your phone via a 15W USB-C port; three other USB-C outputs deliver up to 7.5W power. The final three outlets are USB-A, with these and the USB-C ports offering a data transfer rate of 5Gbps.
This is a relatively basic accessory, without HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet ports or an SD card reader. You can link a monitor directly to the gadget, though you would need to use your own display data cable to mirror a laptop screen. The product has a dark gray finish and measures 5.91 × 1.97 × 0.79 in (~150 × 50 × 20 mm). Included with your purchase is a 45W DC-IN adapter to power the device. You can buy the Anker USB-C Data Hub (8-in-1, 5Gbps) at Amazon for $49.99. The potential launch date for the accessory in other regions has not been announced.
