Android 11-based Samsung One UI 3.0 finally hits the Galaxy Fold
When talking about software updates, Samsung will be busy for most of the year to bring One UI 3.0 to a rather long list of handsets. As usual, the first ones to get the new firmware are the high-end devices, so it is not surprising to see the Galaxy Fold receive the Android 11-based software update one week after its successor.
According to SamMobile, the new firmware had begun to hit Galaxy Fold devices in France last week. However, it was only distributed via the Smart Switch software. Now, there's a full OTA update rollout going on in more countries, as below:
- Samsung Galaxy Fold LTE: France, the UAE (version F900FXXU4DUA1)
- Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G: Switzerland, the UK (version F907BXXU4DUA1)
The list of features does not hide any surprises, since Android 11 and One UI 3.0 have been around for a while now. The list of highlights includes one-time permissions, a dedicated media playback widget, an overhauled UI, improved Samsung apps, the latest security patch, as well as the usual minor tweaks and fixes.
Unfortunately, Galaxy Fold owners in some markets will have to wait until next month to get the update. The update roadmap for a certain market can be found in the Samsung Members app, in the Notices section of the Galaxy Fold.
