Anbernic has unveiled the RG ARC, which will be available in Single OS and Dual OS versions as the RG ARC-D and RG ARC-S. The Anbernic RG ARC series is clearly inspired by the Sega Saturn, for which it has six front-facing gamepad buttons.

Anbernic has provided a first look at the RG ARC, which it intends to sell in Single OS and Dual OS variants as the RG ARC-D and RG ARC-S, respectively. Based on the specification sheet embedded below, Anbernic will distinguish the pair in a few other areas, too. For example, the RG ARC-D will have a touchscreen display, which the RG ARC-S will lack.

Nonetheless, both models will rely upon a Rockchip RK3566 chipset and LPDDR4 RAM, 1 GB for the RG ARC-S and 2 GB for the RG ARC-D. In other words, the RG ARC series will feature the same chipset as the RG353PS that Anbernic launched earlier this year. Thus, the pair will emulate games using four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores running at 1.8 GHz and a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU.

As Retro Dodo notes, the RG ARC series resembles a Sega Saturn controller, with a small display sandwiched between a D-pad and six gamepad buttons. Unsurprisingly, both RG ARC models have two sets of shoulder buttons too, for emulating games that can take advantage of them. Elsewhere, the gaming handheld has two USB Type-C ports and a mini HDMI connection, as well as a MicroSD card reader. It remains to be seen when the RG ARC will be available, although we imagine that Anbernic will reveal new details soon.
