Last October, 8BitDo announced its first telescopic controller for smartphones. Called the 8Bitdo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller, Amazon is now offering a discount on the controller for a limited time. Considering the controller was first available to buy in December, this might as well be its first price cut since it was announced.
The 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller originally costs $49.99, but Amazon has slashed the price by 20% for a limited time which brings it down to $39.99, making it significantly cheaper than rivals such as the Backbone One Mobile Gaming Controller (2nd Gen) which costs $99.99.
It is important to note that 8BitDo's controller only works with Android devices (100mm to 170mm in length) and connects over Bluetooth, unlike the GameSir G8 Galileo that is compatible with both Android smartphones and iPhones and connects via a USB-C port.
The 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller has an Xbox-style layout like 8BitDo's Ultimate controllers. It has Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, adjustable triggers, and two pro back paddle buttons. It also works with 8BitDo's Ultimate Software V2 app which lets users remap buttons and customize the precision of the joysticks and the range of the triggers.
The controller has a 300mAh battery which 8BitDo claims should provide up to 13 hours of play on a single charge. Once the battery is depleted, a full charge takes 1.5 hours.
