Alienware m16 R2, Alienware m18 R2 and Alienware x16 R2 leak before rumoured CES 2024 launch
Windows Report has shared early information about three upcoming Alienware gaming laptops. Incidentally, the leak arrives a few days after we reviewed the Alienware M18 with an AMD Radeon RX 7900M GPU. According to the website, Dell intends to introduce not only a second-generation Alienware m18, but also equivalent m16 and x16 refreshes called the Alienware m18 R2, Alienware m16 R2 and Alienware x16 R2, respectively.
Currently, Windows Report has not revealed full specifications yet like the Galaxy Book4 series. However, it has provided a few official-looking promotional images and an outline of what is to come from Dell's next gaming laptops. On the one hand, Windows Report alleges that the Alienware m16 R2 and x16 R2 will ship with Intel Core Ultra (Meteor Lake) processors, as well as redesigned chassis to accommodate dedicated graphics. Purportedly, Dell has improved thermals too, although Windows Report does not provide any specifics in this regard.
Seemingly, only the Alienware m16 R2 will receive Stealth Mode, a toggle that Dell has previously offered on non-gaming laptops. In short, Stealth Mode should increase the Alienware m16 R2's battery life and reduce temperatures by disabling various gaming-focused features like its dedicated graphics and RGB lighting. On the other hand, the website claims that Dell has based the Alienware m18 R2 around NVIDIA RTX 40 series GPUs and 14th Gen Intel Core processors, another name for Raptor Lake Refresh parts like the Core i9-14900HX.
Windows Report adds that Dell will debut Alienware m16, x16 and m18 refreshes alongside new XPS laptops, which we have covered separately. Also, the company is rumoured to use CES 2024 to showcase updated Alienware peripherals, plus new professional and gaming monitors. Reportedly, It remains to be seen when any of Alienware's 'R2' gaming laptops will begin shipping, though.
