All-in-one AI studio: Adobe Firefly now generates music, voices, and sound effects from text prompts
Adobe is significantly expanding its generative creative platform Firefly by making three key audio tools available to all users. Firefly can now generate music, voices, and sound effects from simple prompts. All audio content is explicitly cleared for use in commercial video projects. The company is also adding leading models such as Google's Gemini.

The new Generate Music, Generate Speech, and Generate Sound Effects tools have now left testing and are available to all users. Adobe is responding to growing market pressure and bridging the gap between digital image editing and professional audio production. The tools allow complete soundscapes to be incorporated directly into existing workflows without spending time searching for suitable audio tracks. A recent Berklee College of Music survey highlights this demand: 80 percent of creators publish video content several times a week, and all of them rely on music.

AI audio with a focus on commercial clearance

Adobe cites "legal safeguards" as a strategic advantage of its AI suite. While many freely available AI generators reportedly operate in a legal gray area, Adobe guarantees that Firefly-generated content can be used commercially under its own licensing model. Generate Music creates customized tracks, Generate Speech turns scripts into synthetic voice recordings, and Generate Sound Effects produces suitable sounds for individual video scenes.

Taking aim at Suno, Udio, and ElevenLabs

With this move, Adobe is directly challenging established specialists in the field. AI music is currently dominated by platforms such as Suno and Udio, which can produce highly complex compositions but are facing major lawsuits from the music industry over unclear training data. Adobe is deliberately positioning itself as a legally safer alternative for commercial productions.

ElevenLabs remains the undisputed benchmark in voice synthesis for emotional, particularly natural-sounding voices. The London-based company has worked hard to establish this position, which is also reflected in its most recent valuation of around $22 billion. However, competition is intensifying as OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft enter the market with their own voice models. Adobe is taking a different approach. Rather than focusing solely on achieving the best possible voice quality, it is seamlessly combining editing, images, video, and audio in a single interface.

Firefly as a platform: Third-party AI models integrated

Adobe's strategic shift regarding the underlying AI models is also notable. The company is no longer relying exclusively on technology developed in-house and is instead integrating leading third-party models directly into Firefly. In addition to the specialized video models Runway Aleph 2.0 and Kling 3.0, Google's Gemini Omni Flash is now available as well. This transforms Firefly from a closed tool into an open hub for the market's leading creative models.
