The Predator series is getting even better with an unlocked Kaby Lake CPU, GTX 1080 GPU, and 4K UHD IPS display for an expected price point of just under 4000 Euros.

Several online resellers are jumping the gun and have listed the upcoming Acer Predator 17 X gaming notebook ahead of any official announcements from the manufacturer itself. Accordingly, the next Predator 17 will sport the next generation (and still unannounced) Kaby Lake Core i7-7820HK CPU with unlocked multiplier for end-user overclocking. The only known SKU at this time is the Predator 17 X (GX-792-70DR) with the article number NH.Q1FEG.005.

The expected launch price of this particular Predator 17 X SKU could reach 4000 Euros with the following core specifications:

  • 17.3-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS display w/ 100 percent AdobeRGB coverage
  • Intel Core i7-7820HK CPU
  • GeForce GTX 1080 w/ 8 GB GDDR5X VRAM
  • 64 GB DDR4 RAM (4x SODIMM)
  • 3x 512 GB SSDs in RAID 0/1 + 2 TB 5400 RPM HDD
  • Gigabit Ethernet, USB Type-C w/ Thunderbolt 3, HDMI, DisplayPort
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 65 Wh battery
  • 423 x 321.5 x 44.95 mm

It remains to be seen if the Predator 17 X can actually ship before the Holiday season, but a more formal revealing will likely come this CES 2017 instead. It is also unknown if the screen will have the same 120 Hz/5 ms options as currently found on some MSI and Clevo barebones. The Acer will compete directly against the MSI GT73VR and the equivalent Asus G752VS or Clevo Barebones.
