The Acer Aspire 1 is an extremely affordable laptop with a stylish design and a 1080p display, but its battery life is short-lived.

Good, inexpensive laptops are in short supply at the moment because a lot of people suddenly found themselves working from home with many working alongside their kids. This laptop category includes the Acer Aspire 1, a simple 15.6-inch notebook for basic home office work and entertainment with good battery life that normally sells for only $230. Unfortunately, it's currently selling for more than that and, unless you're really in a bind, I would recommend checking out other laptop options under $500 first.

Acer's 14-incher offers a matte Full HD display, a Pentium Silver N5000 processor and silent operation. Battery life is average at best. A device like the Aspire should offer more in this regard.

The Acer Aspire 1 A114-33 is a decent-value laptop that offers few surprises or stand-out features. But then, that’s not really what most people are after for their £300. Featuring a fine typing experience, a solid Full HD IPS display, and strong all-day stamina, this is the ideal laptop for those who need a long-lasting laptop for lighter tasks without breaking the bank. It’s not the slinkiest laptop on the market, even within its modest price bracket. And that Peachy Pink shade certainly won’t be for everyone and appears to be the only colour available for the top-spec SKU. But if you spend most of your working day in Word, Excel, Chrome, Gdocs and Mail, and often find yourself away from a power point while you’re completing such undemanding tasks, then the Aspire 1 A114-33 won’t let you down.

Acer: The company was founded under the name of Multitech in Taiwan in 1976 and renamed to Acer or Acer Group in 1987. The product range includes, for example, laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, monitors and televisions. Gateway Inc. and Packard Bell also belong to the Group and sell their own laptops.
While Acer still had the third largest global market share in the notebook segment in 2008, it ranked 6th in 2016 with a market share of 6% after they had continuously lost market shares.
There are dozens of Acer laptop reviews per month, the ratings are average (as of 2016). Gateway, which has an own laptop line-up, has also belonged to the Acer Group since 2007.
Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.
Intel HD Graphics 500: Integrated low-end graphics adapter with DirectX 12 support, which can be found in some ULV SoCs from the Apollo Lake series.
Intel UHD Graphics 600: Integrated low-end graphics adapter with DirectX 12 support, which can be found in some ULV SoCs from the Gemini Lake series. Compared to the HD Graphics 500, the 600 offers improved display outputs. Compared to the faster UHD Graphics 605, the 600 offers less shaders at lower clock speeds.
Intel UHD Graphics 605: Integrated low-end graphics adapter with DirectX 12 support, which can be found in some ULV SoCs from the Gemini Lake series. Compared to the HD Graphics 505, the 605 offers improved display outputs.
Intel UHD Graphics (Jasper Lake 24 EU): Integrated graphics card in Intel Jasper Lake Celeron mid range models based on the Gen. 11 architecture. Offers 24 of the 32 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model ranging from 350 MHz base to 900 MHz boost. The Jasper Lake chips are produced in the 10nm process at Intel produced (similar to Ice Lake).
Intel HD Graphics 610: Integrated GPU (GT1) with 12 EUs found on some low-end Kaby-Lake CPU models (15 W ULV series). Same performance as the old HD Graphics 510.

Intel Celeron:
Celeron N3350: Apollo Lake family, dual-core processor (SoC) that first saw the light of day in 2016. Its two cores run at 1.1 GHz to 2.4 GHz; these are not Hyper-Threading-enabled meaning there are no additional threads. This chip has a fairly competent integrated graphics solution, Intel HD Graphics 500, and eats very little (~6 W). Celeron N3350 features the Goldmont CPU microarchitecture that came to replace Silvermont (2013), bringing with it several welcome improvements diluted with just a few questionable design decisions. The CPU is Secure Boot-compatible; technically, it will have no issue running 64-bit Windows 11. The average N3350 in our database is just as fast as Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 is in multi-thread loads; the two cores of this Celeron trail behind a single core of any half-decent CPU such as the Intel Core i3-7130U.
Intel Gemini Lake:
Celeron N4000: Low power dual-core SoC from the Gemini Lake series for designed for afforable laptops. Runs at 1.1 GHz to 2.6 GHz and integrates a DirectX 12 capable graphics adapter.
Pentium N5000: Low power quad-core SoC from the Gemini Lake series for inexpensive notebooks. Runs with clocks between 1.1-2.7 GHz and integrates a DirectX 12 capable graphics adapter.
Intel Jasper Lake:
Celeron N5100: Low power quad-core SoC from the Jasper Lake series for inexpensive notebooks. Runs with clocks between 1.1 - 2.8 GHz and integrates a DirectX 12 capable graphics adapter with 24 EUs and up 800 MHz. The CPU cores are smaller and slower than in the Core CPUs (e.g. Ice Lake) but manufactured in the same 10nm process.
Intel Kaby Lake:
Pentium 4415U: Kaby-Lake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Compared to the Core i3-7100H, the 4415U is clocked slower (2.3 versus 3 GHz), offers less Level 3 cache and a slower GPU. Both a manufactured in the same 14nm process.
» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
1.6 kg:
This weight is typical for very old and big tablets, subnotebooks, ultrabooks and convertibles with a 11-13 inch display-diagonal; nowadays, rather typical for 15 inch laptops.
1.8 kg:
74.36%: This rating is bad. Most notebooks are better rated. This is not a recommendation for purchase.
