AYA NEO Pocket Air to launch later this month with 5.5-inch AMOLED display and MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC
AYA NEO has provided more details about the Pocket Air, its first Android-based gaming handheld. As with the AYA NEO KUN, AYA NEO previewed the Pocket Air in January, seemingly with the same display as the AIR and AIR Pro. Initially, the company hoped to launch the Pocket Air in Q2 2023 and claimed that it would share full specifications in late March or early April.
While the company missed those dates, it has finally delivered on outlining device specifications. As the screenshot below shows, the Pocket Air measures 224 x 89.5 x 17 mm and weighs 380 g. In other words, the Pocket Air is about the same size as the AIR and AIR Lite while being about 20 g lighter. The Pocket Air retains their 5.5-inch AMOLED displays too, which output at 1080p with a 60 Hz refresh rate. Moreover, the Pocket Air has a 7,350 mAh battery, an x-axis linear motor, hall effect triggers and hall-sensing joysticks.
AYA NEO also equips the Pocket Air with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200, an ARM-based chipset that GPD used last year in the XP Plus. For reference, GPD launched the XP Plus for US$339. The Dimensity 1200 is over two years old at this point though; OnePlus and Xiaomi used the chipset in the Nord 2 and the Xiaomi 11T, respectively. AYA NEO states that Pocket Air pre-orders will open on Indiegogo later this month, with early shipments scheduled for August.
