AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and 7900X3D review date leaks as Ryzen 7 7800X3D hinted to have faster 3D V-Cache CCD clocks vs Ryzen 9 7950X3D
The AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the Ryzen 9 7900X3D are set to pop up on store shelves starting February 28. While we’ve had the chance to gauge the performance of the processors thanks to recent benchmarks, independent in-depth reviews of the 3D V-Cache Zen 4 CPUs are still under wraps. Thankfully, we may finally know when the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the Ryzen 9 7900X3D reviews will go live.
According to @momomo_us on Twitter, reviews of the Zen 4 Ryzen 9 7950X3D and the Ryzen 9 7900X3D will go live on February 27, exactly one day before widespread availability.
Moreover, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D could have reduced clocks on the Core Complex Die (CCD) with the 3D V-Cache vs the Ryzen 7 7800X3D per @9550pro on Twitter. While we don’t know if this report is accurate, it seems reasonable as the Ryzen 9 7950X3D features dual CCDs for a total of 16 cores. With the addition of 64 MB of 3D V-Cache on top, the heat output of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D should theoretically be considerably more than the single CCD Ryzen 7 7800X3D with half as many cores, leaving less thermal headroom for bumping up clock speeds.
That said, we can only speculate as to the real reason for this purported reduction in frequencies. We'll have to wait until April to compare the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with its bigger brothers.
