ASUS has introduced the Vivobook Classic series, combining the Vivobook 14 OLED, Vivobook 15 OLED and Vivobook 16. For reference, ASUS has assigned model numbers M1405, M1505 and M1605 to the Vivobook 14 OLED, Vivobook 15 OLED and Vivobook 16, respectively. It is also worth noting that while ASUS advertises these laptops with AMD Ryzen 7000 APUs, they are all Zen 3 parts, not newer Zen 3+ or Zen 4 ones. Essentially, the Ryzen 5 7530U and Ryzen 7 7730U are repackaged Ryzen 5 5625U and Ryzen 7 5825U APUs.
Likewise, the Ryzen 5 5625U and Ryzen 7 5825U offered in the Vivobook 16 are close relatives of the Ryzen 5 5600U and Ryzen 7 5800U. Setting that aside, all Vivobook Classic models have 8 GB DDR4-3200 RAM and a SO-DIMM slot that supports another 8 GB module. Additionally, ASUS equips the laptops with PCIe 3.0 NVMe storage and the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DC power input
- 1x HDMI 1.4
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C (USB power delivery supported)
Moreover, ASUS installs 42 Wh batteries in IPS models and 50 Wh batteries in their OLED counterparts. As far as we can tell, the Vivobook 16 only comes with an IPS panel, whereas ASUS will offer a choice between IPS and OLED for the 14-inch edition. In comparison, the 15-inch machine will be available with two OLED variants. ASUS has not revealed pricing or availability yet, but it has outlined other specifications in its press release, as well as key display specifications:
