The AMD Ryzen 5 5600H has scored 1,472 and 8,054 on Geekbench's single and multi-core tests, respectively. It manages to keep up with the Alder Lake-based Intel Core i5-12500H in the multi-core test but falls flat in the single-core part and offers a remarkable performance uplift over the AMD Ryzen 5 3600H.

We discussed how Alder Lake-P mobile processors perform in our MSI GE76 Raider review. It also gave us a glimpse at the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti's firepower. However, Team Red's Rembrandt-based offerings are still shrouded by mystery. We did get a peek at the AMD Ryzen 9 69000HX on Geekbench. While it offered a decent performance uplift over Cezanne, it couldn't stand toe-to-toe with the Intel Core i9-12900HK. Now, its younger sibling, the AMD Ryzen 5 6600H, has shown up on the benchmarking platform.

The Zen 3+ Rembrandt processor manages to net a single-core score of 1,472 and a multi-core score of 8,054 on Geekbench. Earlier leaks showed us that the Intel Core i5-12500H's single and multi-core Geekbench scores were 1,602 and 8,367 in one run and 1,503 and 6,896 in the second. While the AMD Ryzen 5 6600H's single-core score might be a bit off, it manages to keep up with the Alder Lake-P processor in the multi-core test. It is even more impressive when we remember that the Ryzen 5 6600H has fewer cores (6) than the Core i5-12500H (12). Then again, eight of them are Golden Cove cores which muddy up the equation. We can chalk down the poor single-core score to unoptimized drivers and pre-release hardware.

The AMD Ryzen 5 6600H offers respectable performance gains over its predecessor, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, which, on average, scored 1,374 and 6,505 on Geekbench in our database. It'll be interesting to see how the Rembrandt part fares in the real world. While flagship chips like the Ryzen 9 6900HX and Core i9-12900HK bedazzle us with their benchmark-breaking performance, they are seldom pushed that far in the real world. On the other hand, SKUs such as the Ryzen 6 6600H are subject to far more wear and tear due to their affordability and easy availability. Combined with an RDNA2 GPU, the Ryzen 6 6600H has the potential to dominate the mid-range laptop market, something that has been Intel's domain for far too long.
