AMD has now unleashed the latest variant of its Radeon PRO series of graphics cards for workstation-type PCs. The W7700 is a medium-power example of its new generation, yet is touted to help achieve enterprise-grade AI and CAD results with RDNA 3 and GDDR6 memory. These specs are backed to deliver a price-to-performance rating of up to 1.7x that of its predecessors.

AMD has introduced its latest graphics card as the Radeon PRO W7700 and, as such, a potential upgrade for a PC to be used by a designer or creator looking to augment their workflow in apps such as Solidworks, Adobe Premiere or Da Vinci Resolve. It is rated to get up to 28 TFLOPS (in FP32 values) and comes with 16GB of GDDR6 RAM for potentially improved detail and texture as well as generative AI performance.

The Radeon PRO W7700 is also backed to handle work involving ray tracing too, with a ray-accelerator count to match its number of CUs (48). It also packs AMD's new Radiance Display Engine as well as the up-to-date RDNA 3 architecture for "stunning resolutions and vibrant color depth for viewing projects on up to 4 displays".

On that note, the W7700 also boasts a fairly generous offering of 4 "ultra-high bandwidth" DisplayPort 2.1 ports. Nevertheless, it is still a mid-range card in new Radeon PRO terms, with half the RAM of the W7800 and half the CUs of the W7900.

Accordingly, it is now set for an imminent release at an estimated price of US$999, thereby getting an estimated price-to-performance ratio of 1.7 times that of cards like the RTX A4500 in AMD's testing. The Radeon PRO W7700 should therefore join that card on sites such as Amazon soon.
