A new leak says that AMD is working on two new CPUs with 3D V-cache, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D and the Ryzen 7 7700X3D. Both feature 96 MB of L3 cache and are underclocked versions of their better-specced siblings.

New information posted by a leaker with an excellent track record of AMD-related leaks suggests that AMD is still not done with the AM4 platform. Previously, it launched limited quantities of the Ryzen 5 5600X3D. Unfortunately, it was only available to US residents via Microcenter, and it is practically a collector's item now because its availability is severely limited. Thankfully, there are two more Zen 3 X3D SKUs in the works, namely the Ryzen 5 5500X3D and Ryzen 7 5700X3D.

The Ryzen 7 5700X3D is essentially an underclocked Ryzen 7 5800X3D (US$322 on Amazon) with eight cores, sixteen threads and base/boost clocks of 4.1/3.0 GHz. Similarly, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D reduces the core/thread count to 8/16 and reduces the boost clock to 4.0 GHz. Both have 96 MB of L3 cache. This is all we know about the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D and Ryzen 5 5500X3D for now.

A US$150 price tag for the latter seems plausible, given the Ryzen 5 5600X3D retails for around US$200 regularly. Similarly, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D could cost around US$250. One can only hope that these are launched globally and not limited to a retailer, as the Ryzen 5 5500X3D, in particular, has the potential to absolutely demolish the budget CPU market despite running on an older platform.
