A Jupiter-sized exoplanet orbiting a Sun-like star has been discovered

Astronomers search for new exoplanets to better understand the cosmos. But although they have recently detected an atmosphere around a rocky exoplanet, they have also discovered a Jupiter-sized exoplanet orbiting a Sun-like star.
Thus, this discovery was made by an international team of astronomers led by Ioannis Apergis of the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), and the findings were published on arXiv. Using the 12 Newtonian telescopes, they were able to confirm the results obtained by the TESS satellite.
Named NGTS-39 b, this exoplanet has a radius 1.09 times that of Jupiter and a mass of 1.47 Jupiter masses. It orbits its host star in just 58.2 days, and its temperature is about 519 K. In addition, according to the researchers, it is thought to be composed of hydrogen and helium.

As for its host star, it is called NGTS-39 and is 16% larger and more massive than our Sun. In addition, it is believed to be about 2.2 billion years old.
As a result, this discovery allows astronomers to better understand these worlds and expand their knowledge. However, this stellar system may still hold another surprise. Indeed, based on the observations, another exoplanet may be orbiting NGTS-39. However, to confirm its existence, further studies will need to be conducted.
