The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 arrived a little over a week ago with various upgrades over the company's Ultimate and Ultimate 2C controllers. However, this is only true in North America, where the controller retails for $59.99 on Amazon.
Now, 8BitDo has announced that its latest controller has reached Europe and the UK. Like in North America, 8BitDo has decided to offer the Ultimate 2 through Amazon first rather than on its own website. For reference, the Ultimate 2 costs £49.99 in the UK but €59.99 in the Eurozone.
For those prices, 8BitDo includes a charging case and a 2.4 GHz receiver that now offers USB Type-C connectivity. Meanwhile, the Ultimate 2 adopts a familiar design for those who have used any of 8BitDo's Ultimate or Ultimate 2C controllers. The new controller adopts the latter's control scheme too, including its third set of shoulder buttons.
8BitDo has swapped in TMR joysticks though, which should be more accurate and more efficient than the Hall effect joysticks in its predecessor. Also, while Hall effect triggers return, a rear-mounted switch allows these to be changed to non-linear triggers on the fly, much like the Lenovo Legion Go S.
All Amazon listings clarify that Ultimate 2 pre-orders will begin shipping on April 25 in the controller's black, white and purple colour options. Please see Amazon's French, German and UK store listings linked below for more details.
