Described as "Blade Runner meets The Muppets," High on Life is a comedic first-person shooter that was conceptualized and designed by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. It features an all-ensemble voice cast and the trademark Juvenile, absurdist humor Rick and Morty is known for.

High on Life is a comedic first-person shooter from the mind of Rick and Morty's co-creator, Justin Roiland. Released in 2022, it had a bumpy launch with technical issues. Thankfully, those seemed to have been ironed out, and the game currently sits on a "Very Positive" rating on Steam. It was also Microsoft Game Pass' big 2022 release.

While the game was removed from the subscription service in 2024, Squanch Games is offering a 40% discount on Steam that lasts until March 13. Conceptualized by one-half of Rick and Morty's creative duo, Justin Roiland, the game has been described by its design director Erich Mayr as "Blade Runner meets The Muppets."

The initial idea came about when Roiland wanted to make a game where players could interact with talking guns, that would react to their actions within the game. High on Life features a star-studded voice cast, including Jack Black, Susan Sarandon, Laura Silverman, Jennifer Hale, and many more cameos. Roiland himself voices one of the main characters.

You team up with an alien named Kenny and your sister to stop an alien invasion from a race called the G3 Cartel. Their purpose is to harvest humans and turn them into drugs. You pick up five talking guns through the game, each with its primary, alternate, and trick-firing modes.

You also gain several player abilities and upgrade them by buying upgrades at shops or finding them in special chests scattered about the world. In addition to combat, there are light platforming segments and puzzles.

If you are a fan of Rick and Morty's absurdist and sometimes Juvenile humor, you will find a lot to like here.
