Grim Dawn was released by Crate Entertainment all the way back in 2016, but despite not being the newest kid on the block, it still features all the key mechanics that make a great action-RPG. Grim Dawn is a third-person action-RPG with hack-and-slash elements, choice-driven character progression, and robust loot and crafting mechanics. The cherry on top of the robust RPG and loot mechanics is that it's all wrapped up in a power trip that'll keep you hooked from the moment you pick it up—if power trips and RPGs are your cup of tea, that is.
Grim Dawn is set in a post-apocalyptic world caught in the crossfire in a battle between two extra-dimensional races—one of which is trying to possess and use humankind to its own ends, while the other is trying to wipe it out entirely to prevent the other from succeeding. You choose one of six classes to help survivors of the war-torn world, and while there is a plot, your decisions will impact your gameplay. The open world in Grim Dawn gives you a lot of freedom, and the wealth of quests can keep you busy for a decent chunk of your summer. If you finish the main game, there are plenty of expansions to dive into later as well.

2. Quest Hunter is family fun for all with a 65% discount
Quest Hunter is a co-op-centred dungeon crawler RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously. The goal of Quest Hunter is not to please hardcore RPG fans, but rather to be an accessible game that lets newer gamers dip their toes into what can be a fairly overwhelming genre. Quest Hunter features isometric gameplay with simplistic, yet not unattractive, graphics, and all the regular RPG mechanics distilled into an easily-digestible package that anyone can pick up and enjoy without feeling like they suddenly have a second job.
Possibly the best feature of Quest Hunter—one that drives home the family fun aspect of the game—is couch co-op for up to four players on the same machine. If you're looking for an introductory game for your kids, or something low-stakes and light-hearted for yourself, Quest Hunter is 65% off during the Steam Summer Sale, coming in at only US$6.99 until July 7, 2022.

3. The Elder Scrolls Online is a classic on a bargain
You'd think that by now, every gamer and their aunt would have The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO for short) in their Steam library by now, but if you don't—perhaps you're new to gaming, or you've avoided the game or genre up to this point—now might be the time to give it a try. Join millions of players in this epic MMORPG set in the persistent world of Tamriel, where you can go on quests, steal from NPCs, and become a god among men. If you love sinking time into developing a character and building complex skill trees, you should give ESO a go.
There has to be some reason that, even eight years after its release, The Elder Scrolls Online still boasts an average player count of 16,000 players daily, according to Steam. This could be the best time to try out a game everyone raves about when it costs only US$5.99, down from its typical US$19.99 price point.
4. Rayman Legends is 75% off but 100% fun
Rayman Legends is challenging, playful, fast-paced, and, above all, fun revival of a classic. The colourful world and peppy music is a refreshing detour from the grimdark worlds we see all too often in videogames nowadays, featuring a hand-drawn art style with plenty of colour even in the gloomier parts of this puzzle platformer. Rayman Legends sees the player—and up to three friends—running, jumping, sliding, gliding, and swimming through a variety of environments, while solving ever-changing puzzles and avoiding colourful monsters and environmental hazards before defeating the occasional boss.
If you're looking for a moderately challenging, yet easily-digestible, couch co-op game to share with your friends or family, consider giving Rayman Legends a fair shout. You can grab it on Steam for US$7.49 until July 7, 2022.
