Meta Smart Glasses ($379 on Amazon) are becoming increasingly popular, mainly because they provide constant access to an AI assistant and cameras for recording point-of-view videos for social media. However, smart glasses are not only expensive and require regular charging, many people also have concerns about their privacy when they encounter someone wearing smart glasses.
DuckDuckGo has now unveiled a pair of glasses designed to avoid all these drawbacks. According to the product page, the DuckDuckGo Paso Robles never needs to be charged, requires neither a smartphone app nor an internet connection to use, and is designed not to infringe on the privacy of people nearby. This comes as no surprise, since they are conventional sunglasses rather than smart glasses.
DuckDuckGo is using privacy concerns surrounding smart glasses for a marketing stunt. The result, however, is not only a charming advertising campaign but also a relatively affordable pair of sunglasses with a lifetime warranty that promises UV400 protection. The logo is placed where the cameras are typically located on smart glasses. The lenses are polarized.
