Caviar unveils "Odyssey" themed Ray-Ban smart glasses with gold, silver and crocodile leather

Caviar, a luxury brand that typically specializes in creating customized, ultra-premium versions of electronic devices, has turned its attention to eyewear with a limited "Odyssey" line. Based on the Ray-Ban Wayfarer II smart glasses and coinciding with the recent release of Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey", the collection comes in two variants: one finished with 24-karat gold plaques, the other with 22K sterling sterling silver, both hand-engraved with Greek-inspired motifs and star-shaped details on the temples. Production is capped at 24 numbered pairs per model, a figure the brand ties to the 24 books of Homer's Odyssey.

Beyond the cosmetic overhaul, the glasses reportedly retain the same smart features found in the original Ray-Ban glasses, including an integrated camera, open-ear speakers, touch controls and AI-powered voice assistance. Also included is a redesigned charging case wrapped in genuine crocodile leather. However, the company has not disclosed how much the added gold or silver affects the glasses' weight or everyday comfort, an odd omission for a wearable.

The Odyssey collection starts at a whopping $6,130, placing it firmly in the ultra-luxury segment despite offering the same core functionality as the standard smart glasses. Two sizes are available: M (129 mm, hinge to hinge) or L (136 mm, hinge to hinge). While the limited production and handcrafted materials may appeal to collectors, prospective buyers should keep in mind that the premium price reflects exclusivity and luxury finishes rather than any unique smart-glasses technology.
