watchOS 10 tipped to become more Glance-able with iPhone-esque widgets
The Apple Watch's long-rumored upgrade to blood pressure-sensing has reportedly seen yet another setback, and may now not launch in a new model until 2025. In the meantime, the Cupertino giant is slated to overload users with new software features instead to compensate.
watchOS 9 is now thought to be succeeded by a build with a different take on how a user can get the most out of their wrist-mounted screen. Currently, that is done through Apple's increasingly app-reliant UI for its smartwatches - however, it now allegedly faces a major overhaul.
The OEM is now thought to revive the marquee Glances feature from early watchOS versions, except that it will be made up of widgets with all the scrolling and stacking functionality of the most up-to-date versions of iPadOS.
They may be presented in the style of the current Siri watch-face, and as a more convenient alternative to finding and opening apps as in watchOS 9. To that end, the Apple Watch series 9/X Digital Crown might even be re-mappable to opening widgets rather than the home-screen.
On that note, there is no indication as yet that these putative "watchOS 10" features would be exclusive to the 2023 Apple Watches; then again, the information- and interaction-rich nature of the rumored UI overhaul seems like it would be a little much for an older wearable-grade SoC.
