In our detailed review, the Xiaomi 17 performed very well. One of the standout features of the Xiaomi smartphone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the large battery. With a capacity of 7,000mAh, it’s more than 20% larger than that of the Xiaomi 15. According to Xiaomi, this is made possible a new battery that contains 16% silicon and offers a higher energy density of 894Wh per liter.
The resulting battery life puts the Xiaomi 17 ahead of competitors like the Apple iPhone 17 and Samsung Galaxy S25 in our test. You can find out how long the Xiaomi smartphone lasts here. With the corresponding HyperCharge power adapter, the successor to the Xiaomi 15 can be quickly charged at up to 100 watts via the PPS protocol. Fortunately, this charger is included with the Chinese model variant.
Xiaomi 17 comes with nice clear case in the box
The included HyperCharger charges the compact smartphone at up to 100 watts (20V, 5A) and weighs about 3.7 oz. Along with the power adapter, the Xiaomi 17 comes with a USB Type-C cable. However, Xiaomi still opts for a traditional Type-A to Type-C cable. Since not all modern laptops now offer a USB-A port, it would have made sense to switch to a cable with two USB-C connectors, similar to what Samsung and other brands do.
The Xiaomi smartphone also includes a high-quality protective case. It’s not a soft silicone case but a hard case. It’s transparent and keeps the phone’s color visible. At around 0.5 oz, the clear case is light and doesn’t add much bulk.
