The fact that the Xiaomi 16 will feature extremely thin display bezels thanks to LIPO technology was already a topic of discussion months ago. Now, the first render images that purportedly portray this have surfaced. Although these are not from Xiaomi itself, but from Ice Universe, he is considered to be one of the most reliable leakers of this decade.
Following the release of the first CAD models of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in recent days, and while the first dummy models have showcased the somewhat inconsistent design of the Galaxy S25 successors, the front design of the two Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagships can now be compared – not based on official render images, of course.
The above image visualizes the differences between the expected front design of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (left) and the Xiaomi 16 (right). According to Ice Universe, the Xiaomi 16 will appear even more rounded than Apple's iPhones and will feature the roundest "corners" in smartphone history. In contrast, the Galaxy S26 Ultra has a more rounded design, but appears much more angular in a direct comparison.
Smaller punch-hole, super-thin bezels
The rounded shape is only part of the design and is certainly a matter of taste, but the significantly reduced display bezels will doubtless be beneficial for everyone, which will also be accompanied by a smaller camera punch-hole on the Xiaomi 16 (and presumably the Xiaomi 16 Pro and Xiaomi 16 Pro Max), as Ice Universe points out on Weibo. We expect the Xiaomi 16 trio to be released as early as the end of September this year; a leaker recently narrowed down the specific timeframe to three possible dates.
