The launch of the Mangmi Air X is around the corner with comparatively aggressive pricing for an Android gaming handheld. As we discussed yesterday, Mangmi has now confirmed that the Air X will start at $74.99 with a Snapdragon 662 chipset and Hall effect controls. Ultimately, few Android gaming handhelds will get close to that pricing, particularly Anbernic's recent options like the RG Slide (curr. $219.99 on Amazon).
However, XU Retro has indicated that it will run the Mangmi Air X close with the XU35 H50. Previously, XU Retro indicated that the XU35 H50 would feature the Helio P65, a 12 nm chipset with a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU. Now, it claims to have upgraded the device to the Helio G85, although this will only generate marginal performance gains at best.
Nonetheless, $75 early bird pricing will help XU Retro challenge Mangmi. As the image below shows, the XU35 H50 also comes with a 5-inch and 720p display, Hall effect controls, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Currently, XU Retro expects to release the XU35 H50 in October 2025. This 5-inch option will be quickly followed by a smaller variant too, full details of which we have covered separately.
