Reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G

Archive.org versionThe Galaxy Z Flip 5G wasn’t quite the mind-blowing revelation for me that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 proved to be, but that’s due more to my personal use case and not anything lacking in the phone. We’ve seen over the last year that while there was plenty of praise for the iPhone 12 mini as a smaller device, that hasn’t translated into sales. I think this is the market the Galaxy Z Flip 5G — and its successor the Galaxy Z Flip 3 — is ripe to actually capitalize on. This phone is tiny in your pocket or bag, but you still get that full large screen experience that virtually every smartphone user has come to appreciate. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G gives you the best of both worlds and, with even a few upgrades to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 along with that rumored price reduction, this may be a huge year for the flip form factor.

Archive.org versionThe Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is easily the most well-built, hardest-working, fun to use, and best-looking flip-phone available yet. While it’s not quite as spec-loaded as some of the other flagship slab phones currently available, it does a more than respectable job of keeping up while delivering something that the others can’t — a full-size folding phone that offers few sacrifices, and that’s fun to use. The Z Flip is different; it manages to be retro while also being futuristic. It’s a solidly built little block that still manages to wow me every time I flip it open.

Archive.org versionLisa Gade reviews the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, the refresh of Samsung’s clamshell style folding phone with the new Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset and 5G. The design, durability and flexible 6.7” OLED UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) display are the same as the first gen model. Like the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, it’s available in a satin finish Mystic Bronze as well as Mystic Gray. The Android 10 smartphone with One UI 2.5 has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It has the same main and ultrawide rear 12MP cameras as the previous version and a front 10MP camera. It’s available for $1,449 unlocked and from AT&T and T-Mobile in the US (it’s also compatible with Verizon).
