Samsung Galaxy S24 series appear to be fan favorites as trio of devices reportedly break pre-order records

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series of smartphones is attracting a lot of attention from fans in India with the company recording the highest ever number of pre-orders for a new Galaxy S launch. The news which comes to us courtesy of SamMobile quotes a figure of more than 250,000 pre-orders.

To put this figure into perspective, SamMobile reports that the Galaxy S23 smartphones only matched this number three weeks into the start of the pre-orders. The Indian market isn’t the only one that is affected by the Galaxy S24 launch as the series is likely to disrupt the UAE market as well.

According to a report by Khaleej Times, retailers in the UAE expect the launch of the Galaxy S24 devices to put price pressure on older Galaxy phones as well as rival brands. Quoting Vikas Chadha, CEO of Jumbo Group, one of the biggest retailers in the UAE, the outlet shares a prediction of 35-38% price reduction for the Galaxy S23 smartphones following the availability of the Galaxy S24 phones. The CEO also speculated that competing phones and mid-range devices from other brands might also drop in value in the face of Samsung’s fan favorites.

It is rather interesting to note that the Galaxy S24 series costs more in India and the UAE than in North America. For instance, where the base Galaxy S24 has an MSRP of $799.99 in the US, the device is priced at the equivalent of $962 and $871 in India and the UAE respectively. Similarly, the Galaxy S24 Plus/S24 Ultra also costs considerably more than in the Asian countries coming in at $1,203/$1,563 in India and $1,061.54/$1,388 in the UAE respectively.

That said, India and the UAE are entirely different markets than North America (NA) and Europe, so the results don’t really translate. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see how well the Galaxy S24 series does in the rest of the globe before declaring it a massive success for the Korean firm.
