We first got wind of RDR 1 coming to PS5 back in November 2025.
Rockstar Games is reportedly planning physical releases for Red Dead Redemption on PS5 and Switch 2 on May 7, 2026. Price reports currently vary between €32.90 and €34.99 for the bundle including the Undead Nightmare expansion.

Rockstar is reportedly bringing physical copies of the original Red Dead Redemption to current hardware this May. Retail listings from Spanish site Wakkap (reported by Dealabs) show the game arriving for PlayStation 5 and the Nintendo Switch 2 (curr. $449 on Amazon). While Dealabs initially hinted at a launch price of 34.99 euros, the source listing on Wakkap actually shows a lower price of 32.90 euros. These versions are priced at €34.99, which makes them way cheaper than the €49.99 digital price tag Rockstar set when the port first arrived. This price disparity is likely because of different regional pricing conventions.

The PlayStation 5 version appears to be a traditional disc, while the Switch 2 listing specifies a "Code-in-a-Box" format. Both include the Undead Nightmare expansion as part of the package. This physical release arrives about five months after Rockstar brought the updates to the digital version of the game.

This news comes amid ongoing rumors that Rockstar is also working on a native current-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for 2026. While players are still waiting for 60 FPS support in the sequel, the original game coming to the Switch 2 could mean the company is readying its back catalog for Nintendo's new platform. It could be a practical stopgap for the studio as it gears up to launch Grand Theft Auto VI later this year.

Pre-orders have not officially opened on major global storefronts yet, but the leaked May 7 date seems solid across European distribution channels. While the final retail price is unclear due to the conflicting reports between the Dealabs leak and the live Wakkap listing, we can expect a clarification soon enough. For those who skipped the digital port due to the high entry cost, the physical discount is a much more reasonable path to play through John Marston’s story.
