Philips is now officially expanding its Festavia collection with two outdoor additions for year-round use instead of just holiday decor. The new Festavia permanent string lights (which are already up on Amazon) are designed to be mounted along facades and rooflines, where they are supposed to offer a clean look when off and a consistent outline when on, with full app control and dynamic effects in the Hue ecosystem. Alongside them, the Festavia globe string lights introduce a lightguide-style bulb on a weather-resistant string, ideal for patios, balconies, and pergolas, with the same scene support and animations found across Hue.
Both products are rated for outdoor use and integrate with the Hue app for scenes, automations, grouping, and voice control via a compatible setup. They also support music syncing, Length options vary by region and timing: the globe string lights will start rolling out from September with longer runs coming later, while the permanent string lights will debut in North America in September and land in Europe in December at listed size-based price points. Because they use the same platform as other Hue devices, they can be included in routines, combined with indoor lighting, and controlled together for consistent color, brightness, and effects.
The shift to permanent outdoor strings will change what many Hue users have been doing with temporary setups, since it will turn outlines and accent lighting into a standard part of the home year-round. For anyone already invested in Hue, these additions should make outdoor lighting significantly better with fewer compromises.
