Orange Pi Zero 2W: Raspberry Pi alternative launches with more RAM for under US$13
Shenzhen Shunlong Software has just released the Orange Pi Zero 2W, a new SBC based on the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W form factor. It features an Allwinner H618 SoC with four Cortex-A53 cores boosting up to 1.5 GHz, between 1 and 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 16 MB of SPI flash, and a microSD card slot.
Connectivity includes two 480 Mbps USB-C ports, Mini HDMI 2.0, a 40-pin GPIO header, and a 24-pin function interface. The latter allows users to connect a first-party daughter board, which adds two 480 Mbps USB-A ports, 100 Mbps Ethernet, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an IR receiver, and three buttons. The Orange Pi Zero 2W also supports WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 thanks to the onboard Cdtech 20U5622 wireless module.
Finally, the company claims that the board should be able to run Android 12 TV, Debian 11, Debian 12, Ubuntu 22.04, Ubuntu 20.04, and Orange Pi OS based on Arch.
Users can already order the Orange Pi Zero 2W on AliExpress, where it starts at US$12.90 for the version with 1 GB of RAM and goes up to US$23 for the 4 GB model. Meanwhile, the expansion board will set buyers back an additional US$4.90.
