Oppo continues to drop hints about the state of its next foldable smartphone release, having done so throughout January. Only the Find N5 is officially lined up for release so far. With that being said, the Find N5 is expected to serve as the basis for a new OnePlus Open (curr. $1,298 on Amazon) by virtue of Oppo being OnePlus' parent company.
For context, the Oppo Find N3 and OnePlus Open launched simultaneously on October 19, 2023. Oppo executive Zhou Yibao has hinted that the same could occur for the Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 with a 'global synchronous release'. Although the latter is open to interpretation, the Find N5 is confirmed to be launching simultaneously globally at the same time as in China.
Oppo has not shared when exactly the Find N5 will be available yet. Nonetheless, Yibao has teased that the Find N5 will officially arrive the week starting February 17. As a result, some have posited February 19, 20 or 21 as potential launch dates.
Meanwhile, Oppo's latest teaser video has emphasised the sveltness of its latest foldable. Allegedly, the Find N5 will be thinner than the Honor Magic V3 when opened, which comes in at 4.35 mm in its thinnest form. As it stands, the Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2 are expected to line up with the 7-core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, plus 50 W wireless and 80 W wired charging.
