The OnePlus Band is seemingly in the works and should soon be ready to challenge the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 in the budget wearable sector. Rumors state that the OnePlus Band will be unleashed with a sub-US$40 price tag and may be launched in the Indian market first, where the Xiaomi Mi Band series has dominated affordable fitness tracker sales.

OnePlus has remembered its affordable/budget roots and clearly wants to build upon the success of products like the OnePlus Nord smartphone. Next up is supposedly the OnePlus Band, which could tempt potential customers who aren’t particularly fans of Xiaomi or simply want a bit more choice in the budget fitness tracker arena.

According to AndroidCentral, which has published a report with information from a source familiar with the matter, the OnePlus Band will sport an AMOLED screen, just like the Mi (Smart) Band 5, and it will also feature several other utilities that the Xiaomi wearable tempts shoppers with, such as water resistance and a long battery life.

It’s rumored the OnePlus Band will burst onto the fitness tracker scene in India first, sometime in the first quarter of 2021, before getting a global launch. The price is obviously going to be vital for the OnePlus Band to have any kind of chance against the Mi Band 5, and apparently it will cost under US$40, which is about ₹2,924. The Mi Smart Band 5 is currently ₹2,499 (US$34) in India and US$36.99 in the US.
