Shuttle planning to launch netbooks

Planning to poach a team from rivals Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS)

Shuttle, a small form factor PC maker, is known for its small form factor barebone X50 customizable touchscreen all-in-one, SA76G2 barebone PC for AMD AM3 CPU, XS29F nettop, X500TA touchscreen nettop, etc. After the success of its small form factor PCs, Shuttle wants to foray in the netbook segment. According to a rumor Shuttle is eyeing at a team of about 40 members (it might poach from ECS) in order to carry forward its netbook plans. It is unclear whether they would offer a barebone design, in which buyers could select and install their own memory, storage and the like, or a more mainstream preconfigured model. ECS on the other hand has no such information.

There are also reports that Shuttle is planning to increase its capital by issuing of 150,000 new shares through a private placement and will target Inventec chairman Kou-I Yeh as one of the potential investors, the sources noted.
