Handheld US introduces a new Algiz 7 Tablet PC
The rugged tablet features a touchscreen panel and physical buttons
Overview
Company HHCS Handheld US has allegedly launched a new device, which adds to its line-up of rugged tablets. According to the manufacturer, the Algiz 7 symbolizes the “next generation of mobile PC performance”.
The rugged Tablet PC is IP65 and MIL-STD-810G compliant. It operates in extreme temperatures and can withstand multiple free drops to concrete. Furthermore, the Algiz 7 is protected against vibration, as well as, dust and water ingress.
Configuration
The company has equipped the Tablet PC with a 7-inch TFT LCD resistive touchscreen display, which has a maximum resolution of 1024-by-600 pixels and is viewable in direct sunlight. The CPU is an Intel ultra-low voltage Atom Z530 processor with a clock speed of 1.6GHz. The Algiz 7 houses 2GB of internal DDR2 memory and a storage capacity of 64GB in form of a solid-state drive (SSD).
Connectivity
The new Tablet PC packs a built-in GPS navigation, in addition to, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR connectivity. Furthermore, it comes with an integrated 3G antenna and modem, providing high-speed GSM/UMTS/EVDO data transmission. According to the company, the Algiz 7 sports Gobi 2000 technology, meaning customers can stay connected anywhere in the world. Also available are two USB 2.0 ports (one is waterproof), a LAN port and a 2.0MP web camera for video conferencing.
Other specs/Availability
The Algiz 7 rugged Tablet PC comes with a pre-installed copy of Microsoft’s Windows 7 Professional operating system and weighs 1.1kg (≈2.42lbs). Measuring 5.5 x 9 x 1.6-inches, the device features an on-screen soft QWERTY keyboard and 10 physical keys including 3 programmable hotkeys. An interesting fact about the Algiz 7 is that it ships with a hot-swappable dual-battery pack which promises at least 6 hours of battery life.
The Tablet PC will reportedly start shipping next month. Price is still unknown.
