Toshiba's new 400GB external HDD

Toshiba Storage Device Division has announced a 400GB USB 2.0 external drive with 8MB buffer. It also includes NTI Shadow backup software which is preloaded, allowing automatic backup of documents and files. The software runs in the background and detects new or edited files, then saves them to the drive without any need for action from the user. It has an internal shock sensor and ramp-loading technology for extra protection in everyday usage.
The drive is powered by USB and is compatible with Windows XP/Vista or Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. The dimensions are 0.65 inch by 3.2 inches by 5 inches with a weight of 6oz, so it fits into laptop bags very easily.
The Toshiba 400GB external HDD will be available in red, blue, green or gray color and should ship in October.
