AMD has removed the need of external monitor in its new ATI XGP technology.
AMD’s tagline says “The future is fusion”. You can’t possibly agree more on its quest for fusion of newer and multi-dimensional technologies while developing its products. Latest on this journey is the ATI XGP technology for AMD’s new graphic card intended for notebooks. AMD says it has the purpose of designing this new graphic card is to “deliver enthusiast-class graphics performance, true multimedia upgradeability and multiple connectivity options, revolutionizing GPU performance on a notebook PC equipped with an external PCI Express® 2.0 connector”. This technology, that eliminates the need of an external screen, will update the Fujitsu’s AMILO Sa 3650 notebook that is already using an XGP graphics card.
ATI XGP technology:
For this design, AMD teams up with JAE Electronics, Inc who designs, manufactures and markets electronic connectors and aerospace products for its parent company Japan Aviation Electronics Industries, Ltd. (JAE) – and a globally oriented supplier of electronic components. This new XGP (eXternal Graphics Platform) is available to any notebook PC equipped with an external PCI Express® 2.0 connector which JAE electronics has designed. This connector is claimed to be capable of providing up to 4 GBps bandwidth to support ATI Radeon graphics cards, which is quite high standard as far as the graphics applications are concerned. AMD website claims that this fusion will provide,
