iTablet from X2 Computing

Category: new notebook models
By: Ivan Zhekov

The new device is expected to start shipping in April

Tablets are flooding the market and X2 Computing, a UK-based company, has also joined the party. The iTablet is their new product and it is a slate tablet as one can easily deduce. The device looks quite familiar though, and Endadget points out that X2 might just be reselling AmTek’s iTablet.

Configuration

Apparently, we are dealing here with a device powered by a 1.6GHz Intel central processing unit and I am guessing it is not an Atom CPU because the AmTek Tablet featured a Pentium M processor.  The device is supposedly equipped with either a 10.2-inch TFT widescreen or a 12.1-inch widescreen XGA display with a maximum resolution of 1024-by-768 pixels. Unfortunately, it is still unknown how much and what kind of internal memory the tablet will house (AmTek’s iTablet supports up to 1GB of RAM), but it will come with up to 250GB of storage capacity.

Connectivity

The iTablet will feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. In addition, it will sport up to three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI interface and a VGA output. This portable device will have an integrated 1.3MP web camera for video chats over the Internet and will be 3G-enabled.

Other specs/Availability

The operating system will reportedly be either Windows or Linux. The iTablet is allegedly about 1.4 inches thick (≈3.6cm) and will come in different colors.

The exact release date is still unknown but X2 slate tablet is expected to be available to customers in April of this year.
