Microsoft integrated the update package into the automatic update function of Windows Vista. If you have activated this function, then the Service Pack 1 can be downloaded and installed easily. The installation needs up to two hours, but after this the newest updates and patches are installed.
Furthermore, the Service Pack 1 is still available for manual download.
