Asus warns on 3rd party batteries
The manufacturer Asus cautions customers against using cloned batteries with their Eee PC. Supposedly, some damages occurred with those batteries and those aren’t covered by warranty.
Asus advertises not to use cloned batteries with their Eee PC. Probably, some problems could appear and thereby damaged Eee PC’s won’t get repaired free of charge by Asus.
A Chinese manufacturer offers cloned batteries for the Asus Eee PC which provides 10.400 mAh and promise a battery runtime of 5.5 hours. Supposedly, it happened that a battery overheated while recharging and blasted after that.
Officially, Asus does not know anything about those incidents, but the Eee PC’s warranty does not cover such damages. The Chinese battery manufacturer denies this incident and they say that competitors want to damage to the company's reputation.
If a customer damages it’s Eee PC by using a cloned battery, then Asus won’t repair it free of charge, and that’s an incontrovertible fact.
