The expected boom of ultra-thins has not yet set in
During Intel’s earnings conference on Tuesday, Intel CEO Paul Otellini stated that ultra-thins will give users what they’re missing in netbooks without losing the form factor, a theme that Intel has been pushing in many different forms lately as they plan to cash in on ultra-thins following their disappointing share in the netbook boom
According to a recent report by DigiTimes, ultra-thins based on the CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage) Platform by Intel have not reached sales expectations. The Windows 7 free upgrade coupons have helped revenue but many consumers are still not used to the idea of these new laptops and may not be comfortable buying until more big-name brands such as HP and Dell release their version of the ultra-thin nearer Christmas time.
