Dell brings Inspiron Mini 12
Category: new notebook modelsBy: Matthias Bauer
Dell officially introduced the Inspiron Mini 12 and the netbook is already available in Japan.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is the bigger brother of the Inspiron Mini 10, but it offers a 12-inch display. The screen shows content with a resolution of 1.280 x 800 pixels.
The included processor is the Intel Atom CPU, but Dell did not build in the N270 processor. They used the Intel Atom Z520 CPU or the Z530 processor. Those processors provide 1.3 GHz or 1.6 GHz and originally they are made for nettops. Their energy consumption is similar to the N270 ones.
1 GB RAM is also included and a 60 GB or 80 GB hard drive is built in as well. Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 provide wireless communication. Dell did not use the operating system Windows XP, because they wanted to include Windows Vista Home Basic. This Vista version does not provide the Aero desktop and therefore the requirements are lower.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 will be available in Mid November in the USA and it will cost approximately $ 600 (~€ 482).
