ExoPC will launch a new 8.9-inch Slate tablet PC
This device is expected to be officially available in March of 2010
On one hand, the ExoPC is a multi-touch display tablet computer, which according to various reports looks a lot like the recently launched Apple iPad. On the other hand, the Slate is very different specs wise with its Atom CPU and Windows OS.
Configuration
The Canadian company, based in Quebec, has equipped its new Tablet PC with an 8.9-inch Multi-Touch screen with a maximum resolution of 1024-by-600p and an Intel Atom N270 central processing unit with 1.6GHz of clock speed. In addition, the Slate PC houses 2GB of DDR2 memory and a solid-state drive, which has a storage capacity of 32GB. The basic configuration also includes Intel’s GMA 950 graphics controller with shared video memory.
Connectivity
The ExoPC Slate tablet PC features Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth connectivity. Furthermore, there are three USB ports, jacks for headphones and a microphone, one SIM/CDMA port, a VGA output and 10/100 LAN. Users can take advantage of the SD card-reader slot to add more storage capacity. This new device sports an integrated 1.3MP web camera for video conferencing.
Other specs/Pricing/Availability
The mini-computer comes with a pre-installed copy of Microsoft’s new Windows 7 operating system and offers flash and JavaScript support. Measuring 25 x 16.8 x 2.1cm (or 9.8 x 6.6 x 0.8 in), the ExoPC Slate tablet has 4 hours of battery life (with user-replaceable battery).
The launch of this new device is allegedly set for March of this year. The staring price will reportedly be US $599 (≈£371.65/€428.90)US, but if you wish to own a prototype now, you can order it for $780(≈£483.97/€558.50).
