Acer is officially in contract talks with Foxconn Electronics

Hon Hai Precision Industry (Foxconn) is expected to manufacture notebooks for Acer in the future.

Acer chairman JT Wang has reportedly confirmed talks with Foxconn Electronics. Seemingly, the Taiwan based company will be expected to produce notebooks for Acer in the future.

Currently, several manufacturers secure Acer orders. Compal Electronics will supposedly secure 40% of the total orders in 2010. In addition, Wistron and Quanta Computer will execute 20-30% each and Invetec will receive the remaining orders.

Allegedly, Foxconn still has a weaker notebook R&D than the top notebook manufacturers and is not expected to receive any major orders.

According to JT Wang, despite the merging of CMO and Innolux Display, Acer will continue purchasing panels from them in the future.

Another Acer panel supplier, Samsung Electronics, has recently entered the very competitive netbook market. JT Wang has allegedly noted that Acer will carry on purchasing Samsung panels, as well.

Reportedly, Acer’s revenues are expected to reach a growth of 15% in 2010.
