Point of Views second netbook comes in the form of ULV powered Mobii Slim netbook

Point of View, known mostly for its graphic cards and other PC components has launched an 11.6-inch Point of View Mobii Slim Line ULV model. It is the thinnest notebook-based mobile platform. This is the second netbook from the manufacturer, the first being a 10.2-inch Mobii ION 230. The processor used on the new Mobii netbook is a ULV Intel Processor (ultra low power consumption) which has a distinguished performance in sync with "smart" energy conservation programs, which allow saving battery power.

The Point of View Mobii ULV Slimeline features and specifications are as follows:

  • Processor: Dual core Intel Celeron SU2300 CULV processor
  • Clock Speed: 1.2GHz with 1MB of L2 cache
  • Graphics: GMA 4500MHD graphics
  • Memory: 2 GB DDR2 memory
  • Hard Drive: 250 GB
  • Display: 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display (non glare)
  • Connectivity: 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth, 10/100 LAN
  • Ports: HDMI, VGA, card reader and 3x USB ports
  • Other features: 1.3MP Webcam
  • Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Battery: 6-cell 4400mAh battery
  • Battery Life: Approx 4 hours
  • Weight: 1.4 kg / 3.1 lbs
  • Measurements: 290 x 198.5 x 26.8 mm
  • Price: €479

Going by the price, it can literally burn a hole in the pocket because there are many netbooks right now available in the market which can be bought for as low as €450 with a better looking spec sheet than the one above. An example of this is Acer’s Timeline. It supports a price tag of €490 but can be found for as low as €450. It has the following specs:

  • Processor: Core 2 Solo SU3500 CPU
  • Clock Speed: 1.4 GHz with 3MB of L2 cache
  • Graphics: GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics
  • Chipset: Intel GS45
  • Memory: 4GB of DDR3 memory (expandable to 8GB)
  • Hard Drive: 320 GB

Well, tough competition ahead for the Point of View in this market segment.
