Eston N97 MID with Android OS pops up in China

Eston N97 MID features Android OS and 3G connectivity

While lately there haven’t been any interesting launches, at least in terms of design, there's still a pretty constant flow of devices originating in the great land of China (and particularly the Shenzen area) that “borrow” their names from some much more famous devices. That’s exactly been with the new device developed by a company called Eston, namely the N97 MID, which, despite, having noting in common with it’s famous Nokia name sake, is, in fact, not too shabby a device on its own.

The first interesting detail worth mentioning about the N97 is that it ditches the in-house operating systems most devices come pre-loaded with, and instead opts for the much better known and more stable Android OS. Furthermore, it's powered by a Marvell PXA303 Processor and incorporates a 7-inch TFT LED touchscreen display which outputs full 1080p HD.

The N97 provides 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as a USB port and there’s an Ethernet port also. Now that’s quite a strange presence in the connectivity area. Such port is usually found in most portable computing systems out there, but rarely (if ever) on MID’s.

The Eston N97 MID also offers numerous multimedia playback options, including support for MP4, AVI, 3GP, WMV and other video formats, as well as PNG, TIF, GIF, JPG, BMP photos. Due to the translation it’s hard to determine if the browser has Flash ability included or if the eBook reader program supports more than just TXT files.

The whole thing is powered by a Li-Ion battery with 2800mAh of capacity, which offers an estimate four hours of non-stop working time. No mention of its price nor release date so far.
