Three models to come up including the outstanding features priced at $399, $525 and $649 respectively
The Hewlett Packard’s latest business-oriented laptop - the HP Mini 5102 comes with some outstanding features. It has a 7200RPM hard drive, an accelerometer which shut downs the hard drive in the event of a fall and a 2MB webcam. There are also options to choose: between an ordinary display and touchscreen, for an attached handle, one with HD display, extra RAM, or alternate operating systems.
While introducing the HP Mini 5102, the company announced that it would have the starting price of $399. But we know when it showed up first on the HP site this week, the minimum price was $749. We all know the HP’s business division sells the Mini 5102 which means there are “Smart Buy” configurations at low prices. And currently the lowest price available is $599. But there is a note from HP revealing that from February 1st more Smart Buy options are coming up, priced at $399, $525, and $649 respectively.
The configuration for $399 model:
CPU: 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor
Display: 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display
Windows: Windows 7 Starter Edition
Hard Drive: 160GB
RAM: 1GB
Also includes 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 4 cell, 29Whr battery.
For the $525 model, RAM will be upgraded to 2GB with a choice of Windows 7 Professional or Windows XP Professional. And the $649 model will get a 6 cell, 66Whr battery, 2GB of RAM, Windows 7 or XP Pro, and a Gobi mobile broadband module.
One can also go with the options available such as the touchscreen, HD display, or handle. But for this you won’t find a Smart Buy Option, you will have to configure your laptop for a premium price at HP.com.
The weakest deal here is that you still get a 4-cell battery with Intel Atom 450 processor, as there are plenty of netbooks with same processor and low price tag. But paying $399 won’t be a bad idea for a laptop that includes outstanding features like 7200RPM hard drive and magnesium alloy case.
