Panasonic updates its Toughbook line-up with the C1 convertible Tablet

The new device is supposedly world’s lightest 12.1-inch Tablet PC

Are you looking for a lightweight convertible Tablet PC that also delivers high-performance? In case you do, Panasonic has reportedly introduced one of those and named it Toughbook C1.

To begin with, the Panasonic Toughbook C1 is a good desktop replacement. It comes with a 12.1-inch LED backlit rotating display with a maximum resolution of 1280-by-800 pixels. Furthermore, the C1 is powered by a 2010 Intel Core i5-520M vPro central processing unit with a clock frequency of 2.4GHz (goes up to 2.93GHz thanks to Intel’s Turbo Boost Technology).

Under the hood, you will also find up to 6GB of internal DDR3 RAM and a 250GB shock-mounted flex-connect mechanical hard drive.

Connectivity

The new Toughbook features Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth modules with an optional Gobi2000 mobile broadband. Customers can also take advantage of the built-in web camera for video conferencing, as well as fingerprint and SmartCard readers.

This particular Toughbook is allegedly world’s lightest 12-inch convertible Tablet with a weight of 3.2lb (1.45kg).

Panasonic will ship the C1 with a pre-installed Windows 7 operating system. In addition, it is equipped with a spill-resistant keyboard and has a battery life of up to 10 hours.

Reportedly, the Panasonic Toughbook C1 will be available in June of 2010 with a starting price of US $2,499 (€1,845/£1,672)
