Wistron is supposedly developing such notebooks
The first time we ever heard about 3D notebooks was at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2008, then again there was news about such 3D notebook models at the CES fair 2009 where the Nvidia booth was reportedly showing off some cool 3D gaming technology called Nvidia GeForce 3D Vision technology. Basically, what this technology does is that it takes a 120Hz LCD and creates two 60Hz stereoscopic images that then require 3D glasses to create the final effect.
DigiTimes reports that a leading ODM named Wistron (I am sure you all must have heard this name before) has recieved some orders to build 3D notebooks for both HP and Dell. There is also news that Wistron is in talks with Lenovo and Sony to develop 3D notebooks. You all must be wondering why all the big names are tying the knot with Wistron to develop such notebooks. Well, the answer is quite simple, Wistron's supposedly uses self-developed techniques that require very little added cost as compared to an existing display, which means that the 3D system won't cost more than a regular notebook. The only extra cost that a user will have to bear is that of 3D glasses which are required to take full advantage of the 3D display.
We have seen the 3D notebook version from Acer before but haven't heard much about the notebooks which will be offered by HP, Dell, and the likes. Moreover, there is no word on availability yet but, I am eagerly waiting for these machines to make an appearance.
