Yet another Operating System based on Linux makes an apperance
The SUSE Linux based Haleron Ocean OS supports Android and Windows applications
Haleron, a leading name in the field of PC manufacturing has launched a brand new Linux based operating system named the Ocean OS. I wonder whether this operating system will be really welcomed in the already clouted OS world. When I say welcomed, I mean that would you actually go ahead and install this OS on your netbook. Users still are not willing to part away with their version of Windows, which still manages to be the top rated OS in terms of popularity. Other operating systems like Linux, Android, Ubuntu, Mac OS X, etc. are slowly and steadily eating into the market share of Windows and with the launch of the Haleron OS the pie gets re-distributed once again. So, what is so exciting about this yet another operating system.…
Well, this new operating system will support all Linux, Windows, and Google Android based applications, which I believe is quite a big achievement in the field of operating system development. This OS is based on SUSE Linux but windows compatibility comes through WINE. Haleron Ocean OS is now available for download and can be installed on both desktops and netbooks. The netbook version of the operating system has a 420MB file size and you need to get yourself registered for a free account before starting the download.
The Ocean OS is based on Open SUSE which will allow users to select from KDE or GNOME desktop environments. Another main advantage of this latest operating system is that it supports 3D desktop effects with Compiz Fusion or kwin/KDE4 feature. It will also allows you to run lots of open source Linux applications like OpenOffice.org, Firefox, GIMP, and PIDGIN. This Haleron’s Ocean operating system will also support Bluetooth connections, WiFi, and 3G.
Haleron has now made the download available for netbooks. Currently it is in Beta v1.02 and there is no Windows and Google Android integration available. Although the installation of the Ocean operating system is a bit tricky and requires lots of patience but still Haleron has provided proper instructions for the consumers convenience.
Haleron is betting big for a good response from it’s customers on this Ocean OS as it has two very distinct features which makes it far different from other operating systems and these features are:
- The ability to support Google Android applications
- The ability to support Windows applications
We will bring to you the review of this OS once we have experimented with it.
