Lossless Scaling version 3.1 has received a new update, which is dubbed a major release for the upscaling and frame generation tool. One of the notable highlights is the performance mode, which is said to offer up to 2x reduction in terms of the GPU load.
Of course, this performance boost can come at a cost. As the developer notes, there can be a slight reduction in the image quality in this mode, depending on the settings and the system's hardware. Conversely, in some cases, there can be an improvement in terms of the visuals, which will come as a result of a higher base frame rate.
Besides the performance boost, the latest update for Lossless Scaling 3.1 promises enhanced image quality in Fixed Mode and Adaptive Mode. Reduced object flickering and lower ghosting effects are also among the quality improvements of this new release.
Moreover, there's a smarter interface detection mechanism, allowing stable scaling of the menus and heads-up displays. The update also expands localization support, adding Finnish, Slovak, Toki Pona, Georgian, Greek, and Norwegian. This expansion hints that the tool's international audience is growing.
For those who missed it, in the last major update, Lossless Scaling added Adaptive Frame Generation (AFG). This feature allows maintaining a preferred frame rate on soft-capped and hard-capped games. You can learn more about the upscaling and frame generation tool from the video attached below.
