Nubia has announced a new version of the RedMagic Magnetic Cooler. The latest sixth generation is designed to cool smartphones down to –16 °C, which is a step up from the –12 °C of the previous model. As usual, this marketing claim assumes a very low ambient temperature and a smartphone with light workloads. In real-world use, the cooler is still supposed to offer a heat dissipation of 30 watts and lower smartphone temperatures by up to 41 °C, which should be plenty even for the most demanding gaming smartphones.
The fan uses a Peltier element that is 3.4mm thick, which is paired with a graphene-aluminum heat sink. Meanwhile, a silicone cover prevents scratches on the smartphone's back panel. Select RedMagic gaming smartphones are equipped with built-in magnets that can be used to attach the cooler. Thanks to extendable clips, the fan can also be used with other Android smartphones and even the Apple iPhone.
The fan speed and RGB lighting can be adjusted via a smartphone app. According to Nubia, the fan never gets louder than 35dB under normal load. The RedMagic Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro further has a USB-C port for power, and the fan can wirelessly charge the smartphone.
Price and availability
The Nubia RedMagic Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro is going to launch in China first. The rectangular version is priced at roughly $34, while the square version costs about $37. The previous model variants are also available on Amazon US.
